I agree!! If you play the likes of NFS or any other generic arcade/sim racing game, you will nearly always be expected to pay for updates, usually at a premium price, but we are getting free updates, and are watching the sim evolve like a living, breathing being.
I personally don't want it to stop at S3, it would mean that the devs think that it is complete, and I would almost nearly suspect that they themselves wouldn't be 100% happy with the final product, there will always be something else that they would like to improve! But then I'm just supposing, I have no proof of that
Hmm, sounds a bit suspiscious to me, but since you have PM'd someone I guess you know who did it? Funny how it was free until just after this thread was started, and in fact as soon as you thought about doing your site, oh well, better keep the conspiracy theory thoughts out of my head lol
Ha ha ha, yeah, I heard that one too! It is so true, especially coming from a country that is supposed to be the leader of the english language (if not the propogater).
Sigh, where will this all end? And I heard that Polish is now the second most spoken language in Birmingham (And I'm not getting at poles, they have as much right to be here as I do to be in Poland under E.U. rules) but I bet that they can speak and write their own language better than some of our kids!
I know what you mean. I too wish I had stuck in at school and learned to converse in another language, instead of the little titbits of words and phrases I have picked up over the years. I guess its just a situation thats endemic of the times that we live in, and there is not a lot we can do about it, I just wish that some of these people would at least try and make an effort to at least be a bit morein touch with people so that they can communicate on the same level. They are always complaining that their voice is never heard, but its kind of hard when you can't really understand what they are saying!?!?
What? "younger people", these folks are either in school or have just left school, shouldn't they have actually learnt how to even talk english?!?!?!
I've seen people who can hardly even type a word of english do better, including the fact that they appologise for their lack of enlgish skills, but it somehow seems more legible. Don't get me wrong, I know txt speak on the good old mobile, but some of what these folks are writing is nearly unintelligable, and thats coming from a guy who barely scraped thro his English o-level (long time ago I know)
I live in a community which is very secluded, Shetland, the most northerly island in the UK, and we have a different dialect from the rest of the UK, even though we are thought of as Scots, we have norwegian heritage, but that has never stoppped me from a least trying to make an effort to type out something that is legible to the human eye!!
Why is it that so many people come on this forum and can't string a complete sentence together, and I don't mean the normal guys n' gals that post here. The ones I mean are the folk who type out some amazing pile of sick that it usually takes you 5 minutes to even make head nor tail of it!!
Sadly 99.9% of these are people from predominately English speaking countries.
What gets to me is that I can understand posts from people who come from other countries, who are not predominately english spoken of course, better. Even if it is broken english it seems to make more sense. Is it really a sign of the times that while every other country is trying to step into line with globalisation and pretend that they are one world, and that our own decadent society is just decaying before our very eyes?
I'm sorry for the gripe and moan, its just reading the post in the general discussion about A Fake/ Liar In Lfs ! ! !http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=21113 sort of got my back up.
I know theres not much we can do about the general quality of posts, but at least they could try a little harder just to make it a bit more legible, its bloody hard going!!!!
I agree, I think its nearly a missed opportunity not to promote LFS before S3 final, even if its going to happen at S2 final, God knows when that'll be. I just feel that promotion is a major thing, especially with so many people S2 licensed, it kind of makes a mockery of the fact that they don't want to advertise, yet they are willing to let tens of thousands of people buy licenses.
Why not use what you have and also the promise of what (and I can't wait for) might be to make it a success, and on top of that capitalise on what you have, and spread the word further!
I remember finding LFS S1 on the coverdisk of PC format a few years back, and I thought it was amazing then, and I read soooo much on the website about how there was going to be a S2, I bought S1, but unfortunately for me I never tried online, I guess it was before I realised what online gaming was really about. But even then it had amazing promise, as I'm sure a lot of you will already know, but even getting it onto a PC Format cover disk is a huge way of getting it known around the world, because Future publications have different versions of PC format all over the world, maximum exposure, I would think!!!
You get the feeling sometimes that there isn't a lot of promotion for LFS by the devs, it sort of seems like it runs away itself, basically spread by word of mouth and the fact that its such an enthusiastic community, but to the way that it appears to me, it seems like its just ticking along, ok the devs obviously have a lot on their hands trying to A: make the best racing sim ever, and B: pander to our needs and whims where possible!!
But maybe its something that they have in place for the future when S3 final is out, when they can afford to rest on their laurels and promote and (hopefully for them) watch the cash roll in!!!
I know LFSWorld renders it null and void to an extent, but in a way it sort of brings things together so that if thats where you REALLY want to race, then you just look up that tracks website. In a sense it would really bring all the info for that track together in one site, with the likes of stats for length, WR's and your own PB's, but I think the main problem would be trying to get it integrated into real life, so to speak, making it more available for the layman, which in turn might (I hope) lead to more people becoming interested in LFS, just a thought really
That would be a good idea, but as ATC Quicksilver says, it would take a person who is willing to make the sacrifice. You never know it might re-ignite some interest in the devs
I notice that the banner over the start line at Blackwood has the web address www.blackwoodcircuit.com on it, but when you look up that addy, then you get a site selling circuit boards. Has that addy been used by the developers to promote LFS or has it always been a fictional addy?
True, as I am not really an RFactor fan I didn't realise the facts, and I hang my head in shame :slap:. I just thought if Intel, as partners of BMW, were trying to take it serious about RFactor then they would want to show the latest product that they were sponsoring, but I suppose they have sponsored BMW sauber for a while now so it really shouldn't matter which car they use to show off their product sponsorship.
The thing that amuses me is that in the screenies that flash up you have good ole Jacques Villenueve's helmet on view, the man that BMW Sauber basically sacked and replaced with Robert Kubica . If they were trying to make it the best sim ever, should they not have tried to keep it current and upto date with either Kubica or Heidfeld's helmet on view, inkeeping with the current sponsorship?
Ha ha, quality I've seen this before, but it still blows my mind, he must have the mother of all ear plugs to live inside that car, awesome driving too, but he obviously has a car thats soooooooo far beyond anything else in the field that it makes it effortless to pass!!
Ha Ha, a quote from one Homer Jay Simpson, you REALLY are doing your credibility no end of good lol .
But you are right, in the true scale of things the planetary climate has been an ongoing varied and changing anomaly. As has been written in manys an academical journal, in fact it has even been noted that the present gulf stream has been going for what is thought to be a record breaking amount of time, IIRC it usually runs for about 5,000 years or so, but at present it has run consistenly for about 15,000 years, which has helped to keep norhtern and western Europe in its temperate climate for so long. But as I said, I think that it doesn't usually flow this long, which might mean that we would reach ice age type conditions in winter, but it is unknown what usually causes the flow to stop, it could be that as KSheppard says, too much fresh water has got into the sea water and thus the convayor belt is shut down!!
LFS is environmentally friendly compared to real motorsports anyway, its not as if we're burning tonnes and tonnes of carbon dioxide when we're racing, okay we're using electricity, but its not half as damaging to the environment as driving a car around a track at high speeds!! Besides, my computer would be on anyways, so I might as well use it for a good purpose
The main problem with more smoke will be lower frame rates, which will cause people with lower end computers to have a reduced graphical performance. Imagine Turn 1, you get a few folk locking up and then you get 4 or 5 cars worth of smoke, the frame rate is going to drop right down, which will probably cause more accidents. I think its at the right balance at the moment IMHO
Yup, it does seem to be VERY VERY biased towards R-Factor, and having shelled out for it last year, i have to admit i wonder why, as i had a S1 license years ago, and never really worked with it, but after trying r-factor i wish i had rally put the effort in with S1!!
